Summertime in the suburbs

Allo allo allo!

Welcome back to my cobweb-ed blog of mine. Obviously I've been slacking but I just wanted to share a little of what I've been loving these past few weeks.

1. Reading!

Ohhh how I love summer for this precise reason. There is nothing better than lying on a blanket in the grass with a good read. Currently I'm reading "The Witch of Portobello" by Paulo Coelho. I am loving how interesting it is and I want to use parts of the book in my life. That's how cool it is! This is going to sound really nerdy but one night I went to the library meaning to only pick up 1 book... I picked up 7 . Nothing feels better than knowing you have the whole night to read.

When I was younger and it was a Friday night, my mom would take us to the library. I would load up on books and read until I was finished one and maybe even two books... in one sitting.

2. Music!

Lately I've been feeling the good vibes from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Their music is so funkay and I hope to buy their new CD - "It's Blitz!" ... especially after seeing this amusing video . The drummer, the one with the glasses is so amusing.

Along the same music path is the lovely Metric whom I also enjoy quite much.

These two bands are so fresh and so unique. It's nice to find bands that have a distinct sound. They don't mesh with all the other music - they're just them.

3. Driving!

I get paid to drive places. It's flipping awesome. Last week My work partner, Laura, and I drove through the beautiful country with the windows down and the music turned up and it was just amazing. Driving through the country in the summer is an experience that everyone should have because it feels the body with such a warm feeling- at least with me anyway. I find driving to be very soothing- except when dealing with idiot drivers. Luckily, most of them reside in the city.

4. Family & Friend Love

I got to see my Quebec family this past week and I was able to hold and play with my adorable 5 month old second cousin Marianne. Babies in the family are one of the greatest things. She keeps smiling her toothless smile and all the troubles of the world just melt away. Spending time with my kooky family is always time well spent and being able to re-connect with my friends after another year of university is so very excellent. Hugs are of endless supply at home and that's one of the reasons why I can't help but want to come back.

Now I leave you all with a fun shimmying song.

...You better shimmy.
